Later, Papá feels better when he picks Lara up. He even plays catch with her before dinner.

Lara can’t stop talking about running through the sprinklers. She wishes they had a pool.

“Maybe that should be your wish,” Papá says, but Lara shakes her head.

“No. I want my wish to be something special. It should be big!”

Lara stretches out her arms so wide she nearly falls out of her chair and Papá laughs. “Yes. If you’re going to make a wish,

it should be something you really want. Take your time deciding.”

Lara smiles. Papá always knows just want to say.

That night Lara dreams about swimming and running and playing with her Papá.
